How to generate my data usage report and understand it?

Written by Justin

Your data usage report provides a detailed breakdown of how your Residential Proxies traffic is consumed over time.

Reviewing it regularly can help you identify peak usage periods, spot consumption trends, and manage your data allocation more effectively. This allows you to plan, adjust your usage when needed, and avoid unexpected overages.

How to Generate a Data Usage Report

Open your Residential Proxies dashboard (1) and navigate to the ‘Statistics’ section. The interactive graph provides a visual representation of your proxy traffic. Select the time period (2) you want to review. Filter by website (3) if you want to analyze traffic for a specific domain, and choose your preferred unit of measurement (4), GB or MB.

Review the interactive graph to understand your traffic patterns over the selected period. You can also click ‘Download report’ (5) to export a full record of your usage data.

In the pop-up window, confirm or change the time period (6) and unit of measurement (7). Then, select your preferred decimal fraction (8) option: ‘All’ for no rounding, or 1 to 4 to round the total bandwidth to that number of decimal places. Click ‘Download data’ (9) to download and save your report as a CSV file.

What Your Data Usage Report Includes & Means

Your downloaded CSV report contains the following columns for each entry:

  • Date - the date the traffic was recorded, so you can identify which days had the highest consumption

  • Hostname - the target website or domain accessed through your proxy, so you can see which sites are driving the most traffic

  • Port - the port used for the connection, which can be useful for technical troubleshooting or auditing specific connection types

  • Data - the amount of traffic consumed for that entry, displayed in your chosen unit of measurement

  • Measurement unit - the unit of measurement selected at the time of download, either MB or GB

  • Requests count - the number of requests made for that entry, which helps you identify whether high usage is driven by frequent lightweight requests or larger individual ones

At the bottom of the report, you will find the total data consumed and the total request count for the entire selected period. This gives you a quick summary of your overall proxy usage without having to calculate it manually.
